Apply For 2022 University of Oxford Fully Funded Rhodes Scholarship

Applications to the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom are now being accepted. The Rhodes Scholarship program, which provides international students (including Nigerians) with the opportunity to study at the university, has begun.

Value of a Rhodes Scholarship: All University and College fees; the University application fee; a living stipend (£15,900 per annum 2019-20); a settling in allowance (£225 in 2019-20); health insurance, visa; and two economy class flights – to and from the UK – for the start and end of studies in Oxford are covered by a Rhodes Scholarship.

The scholarship has a two-year basic term, subject to satisfactory academic achievement and personal conduct at all times.

The deadline for applications is September 15, 2021.

African Countries That Are Eligible: Applicants from the following countries are eligible for the Rhodes Postgraduate Scholarship:

West Africa includes Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Nigeria, Saint Helena, Senegal, Sierra Leone, So Tomé and Principe, and Togo.
Southern Africa (South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, and Swaziland), West Africa (Zambia and Zimbabwe), and Southern Africa (South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, and Swaziland). See the exact criteria for each country.
Other countries include Australia, Bermuda, Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Jamaica & the Commonwealth Caribbean, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine), United Arab Emirates, and the United States.

Venue: The exam will be held at the University of Oxford.

Courses provided by the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom are acceptable subject areas.

Type of Scholarship: Postgraduate (Masters and Doctorate)

Rhodes Selection Criteria: Young people of exceptional intellect, character, leadership, and commitment to service from 20 Rhodes constituencies (64 nations) around the world are sought by Rhodes Selection Committees.

Who is eligible to apply?

All applicants for Rhodes Scholarships must meet the following requirements:

Citizenship and residency requirements: Applicants must be citizens of one of the countries listed above.
Age: You must be at least 18 years old and not older than 24 years old on October 1st of the year you apply. Depending on the local circumstances, there is some fluctuation in the upper age restriction across constituencies. Before applying, please double-check your constituency’s exact age restrictions. Following the selection process, successful candidates will arrive in Oxford in October. It is not possible to postpone the scholarship.

Education: Rhodes Scholars must have finished a Bachelor’s degree of sufficient quality to meet both the Rhodes and the Oxford standards. NB: Some constituencies demand that you complete your undergraduate degree the same year you apply for the Scholarship.

Number of scholarships: Up to 95

Rhodes Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies: Rhodes Scholars may pursue any full-time postgraduate degree at the University of Oxford (including the BA with senior status over two years).

The Scholarship may be extended for a third year at the discretion of the Trustees for individuals who follow a recognized path to the DPhil. Only the Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and Masters of Financial Economics (MFE) are available during the Scholarship’s second year.

The Scholarship has a two-year basic term, which is contingent on excellent academic performance and personal conduct.
